Wyse WSM delivers software on demand to zero client computing devices. Able to deliver full, rich operating systems like Windows XP Professional, it delivers the power and flexibility of a PC to the user, while giving IT the manageability they want from a thin-computing infrastructure.
Wyse WSM eliminates the need for traditional client management tasks, such as firmware upgrades, and patching and delivering new functionality to clients. Patches are done one-time at the server, and automatically deployed by WSM to clients upon a re-boot. No scripts or scheduling needed.
With the flexibility to deploy applications independent of the operating system, WSM allows customers to standardize operating system images across their organization and deliver applications based on user roles and responsibilities. Administrators can also easily provision new applications or updates to existing applications without having to modify the operating system image.
With WSM, IT administrators gain the granular control they need to ensure the consistency of deployed software across the enterprise. It also dramatically reduces the IT time and costs associated with deploying and maintaining software across the enterprise. By deploying operating system and applications patches centrally, downtime and IT staff time is greatly reduced. Each end user simply reboots their zero-client device to ensure that the client software is upgraded to the latest patch level.
WSM delivers the following operating systems to zero clients:
- Windows 2000 Professional
- Windows XP embedded
- Windows XP Professional
WSM also delivers Windows applications, unmodified, for execution on the zero client itself, such as:
- Citrix Win32 client
- Citrix EdgeSight Manager
- Microsoft Remote Desktop Client
- Ill-behaved applications that work poorly on the server
- Custom applications written only for use on a PC
WSM works with all Wyse zero clients, currently the V00, V00L and V00LE, and select other client types contact your Wyse representative for additional supported client hardware types.
