  6. How do I configure my router for Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) so I can connect to my Home PC?

To see an overview of how to setup your router to allow RDP within your network, please refer to the following link:
    http://helpdeskgeek.com/networking/configure-router-for-remote-desktop/

The following is an example of similar steps for a D-Link router (other routers follow similar steps):

    1. Enable RDP connections to your Windows PC.

    2. Configure your home router so you can connect to your Home PC from the public Internet:

Login to your router from your Web browser using the default IP address. If you do not know the IP address of the router, go to Start | Run, and type cmd to open a command window. Type ipconfig and note the address for the router is the Default Gateway address.

      Default Gateway address

Type the Default Gateway address in your Web browser and login to your router using the correct username and password.

      For exanple:

Step 1) Type http://192.168.0.1 in your browser to display the D-Link screen.
Step 2) Go to Advanced->Port Forwarding.

      Port Forwarding

Step 3) Use the following guidelines to configure the port forwarding:

      1. Enter a name in the Name field. For example: RDP.
      2. Enter the IP Address of your local machine. For example: 192.168.0.108.
      3. Enter RDP default port number 3389 in the TCP and UDP fields.
      4. Click Save Settings.

Your port forwarding page will now look like the following screen.

      Port Forwarding

    3. Obtain the external IP Address of your machine by going to: http://www.whatismyip.com. The IP address will be displayed as shown in the following figure:

      IP address

    4. Use this external IP address (for example: 132.237.245.15) when configuring the Wyse PocketCloud Connection settings to connect your home PC.

  1. I created my VMware View connection and try to connect, why do I get "Error: Unknown user name or bad password"?
  2. When I use RSA Two-Factor Authentication, why does it keep asking for my token?
  3. When I press "Thin Browser" I get an error: "Pocket Cloud Desktop Agent is not installed." Where can I get the desktop agent to install on my desktop?
  4. Why is the automatic keyboard detection not working?
  5. Why do some Web sites I visit with "Thin-Browser" show a pop-up window with a red icon?

  1. I created my VMware View connection and try to connect, why do I get "Error: Unknown user name or bad password"?

This can be due to either of the following reasons:

    1. Username/Password for the VM is incorrect. Be sure that the connection settings contain the correct username/password for the VMware Domain and VMware Desktop selections.

    2. The VMware Domain and/or VMware Desktop settings are incorrect or empty. Be sure that you have selected the correct Domain and/or Desktop for your connection.
  2. When I use RSA Two-Factor Authentication, why does it keep asking for my token?

PocketCloud Version 1.0.1 has experimental support for RSA Two-Factor Authentication and includes extra security measures to allow you to use only one passcode at a time. That is, if you used a passcode to select a domain name, then you must wait for the next token to select your desktop. Once you select your desktop, you must wait for the next token to select a connection to that VM. This process is only used for the initial setup; once you have created the connection, you only need to enter your passcode once when you want to use the connection.
  3. When I press "Thin Browser" I get an error: "Pocket Cloud Desktop Agent is not installed." Where can I get the desktop agent to install on my desktop?

You can get the desktop agent (PocketCloud Windows Companion) at: http://www.wyse.com/iPhone
  4. Why is the automatic keyboard detection not working?

First: Ensure that the PocketCloud Windows Companion is installed on your desktop.
Second: Turn on the Keyboard Detection switch in PocketCloud's Settings:
  • On PocketCloud's "My Computers" screen, tap on the Settings icon. Settings icon

    My Computers screen

  • Tap on the "Keyboard Detection" switch to turn it "ON."
