Windows Server 2003 Expands Market for Wyse Server-Centric Computing
Server-Centric Leader Joins Microsoft at Launch
Event to Showcase Windows Server 2003 Innovation
San Jose, CA –
24/04/2003 -
Wyse Technology, the domain experts in server-centric computing, today joins other key Microsoft industry partners as a sponsor at the introduction of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, Calif. Wyse will showcase the enhanced Terminal Server components in Windows Server 2003 that accelerate and ease the deployment of server-centric computing architectures and pave the way for Wyse to reach a larger market. IT managers who have considered the move to server-centric computing, where applications and data are placed on secure servers, can now more easily make the transition from a traditional client-server architecture to this more effective and cost-efficient model. Such a migration opens the door to critical benefits such as enhanced security, manageability, affordability and reliability. The enhanced Microsoft Terminal Server component of Windows Server 2003 creates new opportunities for Wyse to extend its customer base because it reduces the barriers that have prevented some businesses from deploying server-centric computing. This further strengthens Wyse's recently announced strategy to increase its product portfolio with new hardware, software and service offerings that ensure customers can depend on Wyse as their complete server-centric computing resource. As a long-time Microsoft joint development partner, Wyse will continue to maximize the advantages of Terminal Server through its comprehensive product portfolio to meet customers' individual computing needs.
"Over the years, Wyse has made it possible for enterprise customers to maximize the server-centric business benefits of our Windows Server technology," said Bob Ellsworth, director, Windows Server Product Management Group, Microsoft Corp. "Now Terminal Server in Windows Server 2003 makes it even easier for businesses to deploy server-centric computing into work environments that benefit from centralized management and security."
The Terminal Server component of Windows Server 2003 builds on the solid foundation provided by Windows 2000 Server, and includes the new client and protocol capabilities introduced by Windows XP. Terminal Server allows enterprise managers to deliver Windows-based applications to virtually any computing device - including those that cannot run Windows. The enhanced services also reduce the amount of network bandwidth required to access data remotely and an improved client interface makes it even more user-friendly.
"While Wyse customers have benefited from the advantages of server-centric computing for years, there are some companies eager to make the transition but are unsure of how easily or cost-effectively they can make the move," said George Skaff, vice president of worldwide marketing for Wyse. "Windows Server 2003 streamlines this process. Along with our expanded host of products, this new Microsoft offering makes it easier for businesses to realize the cost, management and security advantages that are possible from a server-centric environment."
Terminal Server in Windows Server 2003 provides new security features that include a security policy editor that streamlines the management of user permissions and helps protect connections between the client and terminal server with 128-bit encryption. The new version also offers greater scalability with load balancing features and provides enhanced support for peripherals like network printers.
