Expansion to Meet the Growing Demand for Thin Appliance Hardware
and Software Technology
San Jose, CA –
06/04/2001 -
Wyse® Technology, the worldwide leader in thin-appliance computing, today announced Jim Crocco has been named vice president of America sales, and Dave Yewell has extended his role with the company to include the direction of sales activities in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions, in addition to Asia Pacific (APAC) and Australia. Additionally, Jeff McNaught, formerly vice president of customer marketing, will now assume the new role of vice president of market strategy. With this new sales management team in place and the creation of a new position focused on new market strategy, Wyse is positioned to meet new customer and market needs, grow business internationally and extend the company's commitment to developing and executing a software management business to compliment the company's dominant position in thin-appliance hardware sales. "It is critical that Wyse has the most talented, most focused individuals leading our sales and market strategy efforts to achieve our vision of expanding our software business to create new streams of revenue and add maximum value for our shareholders," said John Stringer, president and CEO of Wyse Technology Inc. "Jim has served as the president and CEO of Netier Technologies, which was acquired by Wyse last December, helping establish the Rapport line of desktop management software as the standard for all thin-appliance management applications while elevating Netier as a significant player in the thin-appliance market in a very short timeframe. Jeff is one of the most recognized names in the thin-appliance market, and the ideal candidate to lead Wyse's expansion planning and execution, and Dave continues to be a staple of Wyse's success outside of the U.S., serving as a global evangelist for thin-appliance computing." Wyse ignited the global explosion of "thin" appliances with the delivery of the first thin client device, the Wyse Winterm Windows® Terminal, in 1994. This led to the debut of other breakthrough "thin" devices, such as fixed-function consumer Internet appliances, web phones and enhanced personal digital assistants (PDAs). Wyse has a vision where new "thin" information appliances will touch virtually every aspect of our day-to-day lives, and emerge as part of the popular culture. Wyse Rapport client management software will provide the software infrastructure to manage these myriad devices, beginning in the enterprise and eventually reaching the consumer. Crocco Spearheaded Netier's Rise A co-founder of Netier Technologies with more than 15 years experience as a senior level executive, Jim Crocco has an established background in sales, business development, product development and deployment, partnering solutions, channel-marketing strategies, distribution and inventory management, all accomplished within the technology marketplace. Crocco joined the Wyse executive team in through the acquisition of Netier, and played a significant role in the blending of the two companies. Crocco was previously responsible for the implementation of a new division for publicly traded Ultrak, Inc., which focused on multimedia systems and upgrade kits. In 1986, he founded BSA, Inc., a company that provided turnkey distribution, marketing and acquisition services for technology manufacturers and resellers. Ernst & Young nominated Crocco as a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year in 1989 and 1990. He is a graduate of Marymount College with a bachelor's degree in business administration and economics with a minor in computer science. McNaught to Lead Wyse's Current and Future Market Strategy Jeff McNaught was one of the key people responsible for the development of the Wyse Winterm thin appliance, the most recognized and highest selling thin appliance on the market today according to reports from International Data Corporation (1). McNaught has led all aspects of marketing and product marketing in his 14-year career at Wyse Technology, and is now charged with developing the framework for the expansion of Wyse's software management business and entrenchment of the company's thin-appliance hardware business. His role will include defining and developing new market and business opportunities, creating business strategies and alliances for addressing these new markets and communicating the company's vision to the business and financial communities. Continued Success for Yewell at Wyse Yewell's aptitude at forging strategic alliances with U.S. partners, including Microsoft and Citrix, resulted in his promotion to vice president of Asia Pacific sales in April 2000. Yewell has made significant inroads in establishing Wyse's thin appliance dominance throughout Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Yewell served as vice president of strategic partnerships where he initiated Wyse's efforts to become a founding member of the Application Service Provider Industry Consortium (ASPIC). Dave resided in both Germany and France during his 20+ year career at Hewlett-Packard.
